Za mnogu godini Bayram!

mosque in Western Macedonia Za mnogu godini Bajram! – that`s how they wish Many Years of the Bajram in Macedonian, when Muslim celebrate the end of Ramadan – the ninth month of the lunar calendar, during which they are fasting from the dawn to the dusk. Bajram/Bayram, one of the most important celebrities for Muslim, in Macedonia is extended in three-days lasting celebration with baklava and sweets/”sugar” (mac: shekjer). Those three days people visits their relatives: family and friends, to wish them for the Bayram, to greet and eat together symbolic sweetness.

My celebration of the Bajram in a village in western Macedonia, where I went with my friend to visit one family, turned into a two-days marathon during which we have visited several homes and ate dose of sugar that cross every standard limit:)
